Griffey and Zilgian- 24 x 30

Griffey and Zilgian- Lab Love

Dave always wanted a dog, but was an adult and raising a family before he finally got his first dog. He chose a Lab because they were known to be good with small children. He chose Griffey, because as a pup Griffey was outgoing, playful, and came to him as if he were already his dog. From day one Griffey was Dave's best buddy, but Griffey was also the kid's guardian and playmate; so much so that he was considered just one of the kids- the oldest and most responsible kid. Once when daughter Kayla was a small child and was playing on the couch near Griffey, she got a bit rambunctious and was heading for a fall. Griffey used his head and shoulder to push her back and keep her from a good tumble. This watchful supervision is the norm for Griffey- if not watching for possible danger, watching for a flying ball!
But the best thing about Griffey is his joie de vivre. He is always ready for a good time, always has a joyful greeting to welcome not just the family but anyone who comes along, and is of constant good cheer when just hanging out. There is little time to hang out though, when there are balls to be chased! Griffey is Olympian in his swimming ability- would swim past other dogs at the dog beach and return with both his and their balls. Even as an elder, barely able to gather himself up from a horizontal position, he is eager to chase a ball. His enthusiasm for life has not diminished with living.
Zilgian is nearly Griffey's opposite. He is the background dog- usually sedate and unexpressive. Though they share the same stature in the same house, Zilgian doesn't seem to share Griffey's gusto, and the two don't interact much. Zil does show a lively interest when certain words are uttered however, like "Dinner!"
Dogs really do have distinct personalities, no matter how much DNA they share.
